    Monday, August 19, 1981: Albus's Private Thoughts
I've picked up and moved into Al and Holly's home with the rest of the family. Many of us are wandering from room to room, trying to stomach it; Samuel Hopkirk has been fixing tea obsessively since the time he arrived. Mafalda isn't here yet, and Samuel has decided to wait until her return to give her the news, or at least until I notify the media. I'd rather get the message out to all of her close friends before letting the Daily Prophet know; it's an awful shock to hear things that way.

I already notified Law Enforcement, but there's not much they can do until the press knows, and even then, there's not much to be done. We'll have to wait until the public finds out to gather more information; thus far, there isn't any way to guess. They understand the situation and offer their sympathies enough to keep it quiet, but one of these days they'll start applying the pressure. Then I'll have to explain to everyone how I let Voldemort capture my wife, and how we can still defeat him.

I just can't offer hope to everyone until I have it for myself.

I'm honored and delighted that Annika has asked me to walk her down the aisle. I'm happy to hear that she and Cornelius hit it off so well. They're both such wonderful young people, and it's good to see that they're not all throwing their lives into Voldemort's clutches.

Speaking of those clutches, I came across something rather interesting in the Daily Prophet two Sundays ago. A farce letter from "Isabel" concerning the Death Eaters. I did my research, and it seems that Isabel has not been seen for the last two weeks-- the story is that she's at her parents, which I assumed to be true, but it seems that that may not be the case. Why wouldn't they tell me about this? Don't they trust me?

Whatever the case may be, I hope to see Barty about it one of these days.

The school board has vetoed the playground. I can't say I understand those people.

It seems that the Lord Voldemort has killed the coffee girl at The Free Spirit. Alastor, would you come see me in your office next time you're free? I have a few ideas I want to run by you and some questions to ask.

While the Ministry is bustling, Hogwarts is as stationary as ever. Tess Giordano's cousins have left school to attend the funeral and a student set dungbombs off in Minerva's office the other afternoon, but there have been no other noteworthy incidences within the last week. The meeting with the school governors has been postponed, which gives me some more time before I have to debate funding with them.
